One of the best long weekends in recorded history IMO. I had a blast. Huge
thanks to Dave for the use of his property and his hospitality.
Saturday was 80s day with Joe, Tim, Rami and myself in 80s, Steve in his
4Runner, and Mark in his 60. We spent the first part of the day showing Joe
and Tim the property and ran the new trail "Going Postal". Luckily Mark was
first through that one and showed us which tree needed to come down to fit a
long wheelbase Land Cruiser. Kudos to Rami and his considerable chainsaw
skills. He felled a 40' tree that was 2' away from the front of Mark's
truck. It landed exactly where he wanted it to. Pretty scary and amazing all
at once. I think after that Mark needed to change his shorts.
On Sunday every trail was still dry for the first truck, so I was pointed
right into Pinion Twist and she just went up. I chewed it up nicely for OB
though. Little bit of a gentile tug was all that was needed. The second
climb was wet and muddy and all but impossible. We both pulled cable on that
one. We did Rock On later that day and OB made it look like he was going to
the mall. Pretty annoying.
All in all a really great time. We found 2 really good places to eat dinner
and another breakfast joint so there will be no more Swamper Lug Stew for
us.
Thanks again to all who attended.
